Client Challenge
The Flint Institute of Arts is the 2nd largest Museum in Michigan and one of the largest Museum Art Schools in the country. The proper amount of humidity is important to prevent damage to the priceless exhibits. They were in the process of upgrading their aging humidification system for their facility. We were recommended by the company installing the humidification system to assess their existing water treatment system as they were concerned about the quality of water supply feeding their system. We assessed the current water treatment systems and completed a cost analysis to repair and update their current systems versus installing a new water treatment system to provide purified water for the new humidification system based on the requirements. Another issue of concern was the accessibility to the mechanical area and the limited area available for equipment.
Besco Solution
It is very important that the supply water is high quality and readily available for the humidification system to maintain the proper humidity levels to protect the thousands of artifacts. We designed a new water treatment system that would be more efficient and capable of providing up to 3000 gallons of purified water per day to keep up with the demand of the new humidification system. It will also provide flexibility to accommodate future growth. We were able to make efficient use of the available area to accommodate the equipment as well! We also instilled an preventative maintenance program to take care of the equipment and insure the equipment is performing as it did the day it was installed to prevent an expensive repairs, or damage
Besco Commercial appreciates the opportunity to be able to work with the Flint Institute of Arts to protect the integrity of the historical artifacts!
